I have issues!

I have my issues with the IGFA, RFA, CCA, and most organizations that want my money. I want to know what they are going to do for me! Are they going in 100 different directions? Bluefish, Manatees and Carp? How much do they pay these people? Is it really an organization that has ‘my” best interests in mind? I could go on and on.

I feel these decisions are personal decisions.

As far as a club I do not think that any of these organizations have our best interests in mind or would give us a good bang for the buck. I think that if we support a Swordfish tagging program that the information learned from this, would be valuable to us directly! The satellite tags are costly, but the information is available very fast and we should be able to get the information in a timely fashion. Money well spent!

Even the old fashion tags are showing some very interesting information. Two fish tagged off Fort Lauderdale two years ago and recaptured within 3 miles of where the fish were tagged. Just this little bit of information is enough to fight for our waters off Florida to be continually closed to commercial fishing.

This club was formed to educate and share information. We have had a great first year with some of the top speakers in the world of fishing, here to share their experiences with us. Now it’s time to take our education and do more for our future and ourselves.

We need to set our goals high and move forward. Let’s vote on it at the next meeting and set our goals and budget!

Still fishing,

Captain Skip Smith
